Emily’s Story

23 April 2024

Emily moved on from the Approved Premises in 2022. She continues to receive support from the Charity’s Outreach Worker.

Emily’s Story

Emily has diagnosed neurodivergence and leads a solitary lifestyle, leading to significant social isolation. She chooses to spend her evenings crocheting, a skill she learnt during her long prison sentence, and an activity she finds very soothing and therapeutic to engross herself in. She was released from custody to Elizbeth Fry Approved Premises and moved on in 2022.

After a Social Care assessment, she moved on into local supported accommodation. She meets our Outreach Worker fortnightly, and requested the worker attends monthly Probation appointments with her. They also attend gardening groups and a Recovery College Group. She chooses to have no TV or radio. Emily expressed a wish to donate articles she has made (blankets) to Elizabeth Fry House. These are now gratefully received by residents upon their departure from the AP. The feedback she has received from the Housekeeper and residential staff has increased her self-esteem incredibly. Emily feels she has given back to an environment which helped her transition from Custody to the community.
